Power and COVID-19 Update - 8/7/2020 7:00pm

Text from tonight's call:

Since Tuesday, Village leadership has focused on keeping ConEd crews present and on task to restore power. Currently, approximately 325 ConEd customers are still without power - largely on the western end in the area of Captain Merrit's Hill. The feeder line coming into the Village from New Castle was just restored. Now, individual lines have to be addressed. We do not have an estimated time for restoration but crews continue to work.

Power has been restored to our sewer plant and water pump stations.

Altice and Verizon service is a challenge across Westchester County. We do not have a timeframe for restoration of internet services.

Today, the Governor announced that schools in NY can open if their region is in Phase 4 and they have a 14 day daily infection rate of 5% or lower. School Districts must have reopening plans aligned with Health Department Guidance and approved by NYS. The Bedford Central  plan is available at bcsdny.gov under 2020 reentry info.

Currently, the seven day average of positive tests per day in the Mid-Hudson region is just .9%. In the Village we have just 3 active cases. Recently, we have had some instances requiring us to individually advise folks to follow safety precautions in the park and downtown. All should be aware that the fine for not wearing face coverings and keeping their distance from others is $1000. We are thankful for all who continue to be been cautious and take the precautions needed to limit the spread of corona virus.

This week, NYS added Rhode Island to the restricted states list and removed Delaware and the District of Columbia. The full list of restricted states is availed at ny.gov  https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-travel-advisory

Tomorrow, the Library is open tomorrow from 10-11 for seniors and 11-3 for all.  The Pool Complex will be open noon to 6 for swimming, cooling and device charging.

Seems that there is no end to the extraordinary challenges set before us. Please know that your Village government will continue to focus on keeping our community safe.
